The project "Care for the elderly" in Bijelo Polje will continue from next month, but the local self-government will be responsible for the greater part of its implementation, announced the Vice President of the Municipality, Radovan Obradović.
Obradović said that it is very important that this project, one third of which will be financed by the Labor Bureau and the rest by the local administration, will employ 12 to 14 geronto housewives and that the problem of caring for around 70 beneficiaries will be solved.
"We expect to sign an agreement with the local Labor Bureau by the end of the month, after which the geronto housewives will start visiting the elderly again. The details of that project will be defined by the agreement. We tried through "Caritas" to provide a third of the funds for the continuation of the project, but we failed, so the main burden fell on the Municipality", said Obradović.
Geronto housewife Sanela Ramović, on behalf of her colleagues, said that their livelihoods and those of those to whom they provided services were called into question, because they were people in poor health, less mobile, with difficulties in maintaining households and in need of help from others. persons.
Bjelopolje project beneficiaries previously sent a petition to the local administration due to the fact that in that city there are more and more elderly households whose members are sick, immobile or have difficulty moving.
