The non-governmental organization (NGO) Carp Security Group announced that on March 8, they received a report about the suffering of small fish in the Plavnica region.
The announcement adds that their activists and volunteers went to the scene, where, as they claim, they found the Skadarsko National Park (NP) gamekeepers guarding the fish.
"We made sure that the factual situation was really bad. Our 10 or so people and game wardens cleared the canals of fallen trees that formed the dams. By cleaning the canals and tearing part of the grates, we freed some of the fish, but a more significant part of the fish was also further endangered. We called the owners of the "Plavnica" restaurant, on whose property this happened, to meet us by removing the bars, to which they promised that they would do it the next morning. Next morning, it was done so that 80 percent fish saved," said the NGO Carp Security Group.
They thanked the owners of the restaurant, the gamekeepers and the administration of NP Skadarsko jezero, who participated with them in saving the fish.
"With this act of ours, we have shown once again that we are true fighters for the preservation of the fish stock on Lake Skadar. Join us in new victories," the announcement concludes.
