Locals of Lipovska Bistrica and Gornji Lipovo at a meeting with the President of the Municipality Milosav Bulatović expressed numerous dilemmas and concerns when it comes to the construction of the military training ground in Sinjavina.
This was announced by Bulatović's cabinet after the meeting, with the statement that the local administration's goal is for the construction of that facility to "bring economic progress to the villages and people who gravitate towards Sinjavina".
The inhabitants of Kolasin had previously invited the locals from Danilovgrad and Mojkovac, who use katuns on that mountain, but they and the journalists were told, right before the start of the meeting, "that the President of the Municipality insists that we talk to the residents of the two local communities in Kolasin". Bulatović later explained it by "respecting the procedure".
"Locals believe that the construction of a military range and shooting range will threaten the quality of the environment and negatively affect water pollution. From the first day when this initiative was announced, the local administration has been carefully monitoring the project and construction situation, first of all from the standpoint of ecology and environmental protection," reads the announcement from Bulatović's cabinet.
"I assure you that neither the VCG by its actions, nor the Municipality by its consent, want to endanger the potential of Sinjavina. During the working meetings with the representatives of the VCG, we insisted and were assured that it would be so"
