The management of the ŠIK "Lim" factory from Bijelo Polje is ready to shut down and relocate all machines that environmental tests confirm pollute the environment.
This is the epilogue of the meeting initiated by the President of the Municipality, Petar Smolović, regarding the complaints of the residents of the upper part of the city that they have been exposed for months to pollution, smoke and dust from the pellet mill in the premises of the company ŠIK, "Lim" and requested that the production be moved to another location. The factory is located 100 meters from their houses. 2.500 citizens live in that settlement, and next to the factory there is the "Marko Miljanov" Elementary School with about 800 students.
The meeting was attended by environmental inspector Sejdo Đukić, urban planning and construction inspector for the north of Montenegro Bisera Alihodžić, secretaries of the secretariat for inspection affairs, spatial planning and entrepreneurship and economic development Muzafer Badžić, Aleksandra Bošković and Džafer Gusinjac, acting chief of the Municipal Police Dušan Drašković, representative of the Secretariat for rural and sustainable development Danijela Lazarević, the delegation of the Gornji grad local community and the director of the company ŠIK, "Lim" Gorica Dubak.

It was announced that the competent republican inspection established that the factory did not have an environmental impact assessment study done and that they were ordered to do it. After that, a public hearing was held, an elaboration was drawn up, however, the competent commission that evaluates the correctness of the elaboration returned it for refinement.
At the meeting, it was requested that competent inspections measure emissions of harmful gases and carry out other necessary controls, and that actions and further decisions be made in accordance with those results.
Citizens previously reported the company "Lim" to the environmental inspector because of noise and pollution. The environmental inspector went to the field and confirmed that the company has not prepared an environmental impact assessment study, which implies the introduction of all the necessary systems that would reduce pollution to the lowest level.
The committee reviewed the report and made certain recommendations for additions related to additional protection measures that must be included in the report and later applied (built) in practice.
