The Montenegrin and Turkish police cooperate well in combating international organized crime, said Director of the Police Directorate Veselin Veljović and General Director of the National Police of Turkey Dželal Uzunkaja.
Veljović and Uzunkaja confirmed, as stated in the announcement, the professional and high-quality police cooperation of the two countries, which had concrete results in combating international organized crime.
Veljović pointed out that the Montenegrin and Turkish police have implemented a number of important projects of mutual importance and singled out the cooperation between the Montenegrin and Turkish police through the NCB interpols of Podgorica and Ankara in targeted searches.
In one such activity, as stated, on the basis of information collected and exchanged by the Montenegrin police, a person was arrested in Turkey who is considered to be the leader of one of the organized criminal groups that operate on the territory of our country and other countries.
Uzunkaja said that he was satisfied with the cooperation between the police of Montenegro and Turkey and assessed that it was very intensive and of high quality, with measurable results, especially in the detection and prevention of drug smuggling and other crimes with features of transnational crime.
Veljović and Uzunkaja also discussed the issue of managing illegal migration, which is a current challenge for the countries of Europe and beyond.
They agreed that the police of Montenegro and Turkey intensify contacts in cooperation, for the purpose of exchanging information in monitoring and joint action in solving this problem.
"The directors of the police of Montenegro and Turkey expressed their readiness for the police of the two countries to intensify cooperation in the areas of religious radicalism, terrorism and monitoring the issue of foreign fighters and their participation on foreign battlefields, as well as drug smuggling at the international level and people smuggling," the statement said. .
Veljović thanked Uzunkaja for his support in the implementation of training and professional development of Montenegrin police officers, and it was agreed to continue the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as the improvement of knowledge and skills.
