The trade chain Hard Diskont Laković (HDL) donated 558 square meters that it bought from the Municipality of Budva and a private citizen to the Metropolis of Montenegrin littoral - the good church of Saint Petka, and that is the plot that they needed to complete the complex, necessary for the construction of a supermarket, with 4.500 square meters of church land.

HDL, after receiving the green light from the Municipal Assembly by a narrow majority of votes at the beginning of November, due to disagreements within the ruling coalition, bought 154 square meters of municipal land for 483 thousand euros. Previously, he also bought 70 square meters from a private person. The retail chain had previously agreed with the Metropolis to lease the church's 4.518 square meters of land within the Sveta Petka church complex on the city bypass. The purchase of land from the locals and the Municipality was a prerequisite to form an urban plot, which is necessary in order to build a business-residential building, with a supermarket and a parking lot.

Through a notary, HDL concluded a contract seven days ago to donate the land it bought to the Metropolis, and at the same time, on April 11, the contract for the lease of church land was made official.

According to the contract, which "Vijesti" had access to, HDL leases the church land for 20 years, and the lease also includes the facility that will be built. HDL and Mitropolija also concluded a joint investment agreement, according to which HDL will build a one-story building, which will house a supermarket and business premises. Although the conceptual solution envisages the construction of a business-residential complex on that site, with a supermarket on the ground floor, and apartments on the first to fifth floors, only a shopping center will be built.

In the notarial record, which "Vijesti" had access to, it is not stated how much the church will receive annually from the rent, although it was originally mentioned that it was 100 thousand, that is, that it will be two million in two decades. The money from the lease will be used by the Metropolis for the construction of a temple dedicated to Saint Mark, which will be built not far from the supermarket, next to the church of Saint Petka, on the site where the city chapel is now located. The public company "Pogrebne usluge" that manages the chapel is already working on the conceptual project of building a new chapel, i.e. its relocation within the cemetery located above the church of Sveta Petka.

The construction of the temple could begin, as "Vijesti" was told in the Municipality, by the end of the year, and that the conceptual design of the future temple, the largest in this part of the Adriatic, is already finished, the metropolitan recently confirmed Amphilochia, stating that there used to be a temple dedicated to the Apostle Mark in that place.

"That temple will be the decoration of Budva and its soul. A real temple should be built here, dedicated to the apostle Mark, a witness of eternal love," said Amfilohije.

The chief city architect recently gave her approval to the conceptual design of the HDL business and shopping complex, which will be built on church land, which means that there is no longer any obstacle to start construction on the church complex.
