Although they live only ten kilometers from the center of Nikšić, Milko and Milijana Šljukić in the village of Bršno are struggling with wild pigs.
They say that since December, wild pigs have been coming to the house unhindered, destroying the fields and the garden, and that they fear for their lives.
In advanced years, not in very good health, instead of peaceful sleep, the two of them are on duty in the evening, fearing that uninvited guests will come.
"We don't know what to do. Since December, five or six wild boars have been making our lives miserable. They have become so comfortable that nothing can scare them. It doesn't help that we turn on the spotlight in the evening. During the day it is somehow easier, but in the evening it is a pain. We don't sleep at night because we are afraid of what might happen. They destroyed our three acres of land, damaged the walls, the area around the house, the stables, the piggery," laments Milka, who was approaching her seventh decade.
He explains that other neighbors also have a problem, that their meadows are destroyed, but that they have dogs, so they somehow drive them away, and the two of them are alone in the upper part of the village.
"We knocked on the door, but in vain. We reported to the hunting society, Radomir Nikolić came with the game warden, explained that the hunting ban was in progress and that they would try to find a way to help with the relevant Ministry. I understand that it is forbidden, that pigs may not be killed because the law protects them, but then who protects humans", says Milka indignantly.
She says that she needs to go to Podgorica, to the Clinical Center for a check-up, but she doesn't feel like it, because she doesn't know what she will find when she returns.
“I'm afraid I won't have anywhere to return to. And last year they gave us about twenty days of misery. I also reported to the police and told them to put us in Spuž, if they can't help us because at least there we will have health care and be able to sleep".
According to the Game and Hunting Act, the fine for hunting game outside the hunting season or on non-hunting days in the season is from 200 to 800 euros.
They will try to solve the problem with a "shepherd"
The president of the Hunting Society (LD) "Dr. Zoran Kesler" Radomir Nikolić told "Vijesta" that he is well aware of the problem of the Šljukić sisters and that he hopes that the problem will be solved in ten days.
"Women are alone, powerless and I completely understand them. I went around the field, I was with them and the pigs did the damage. The gamekeeper is often there, but unfortunately you never know when the pigs will appear.
I contacted the Hunting Association and the relevant Ministry and we will get a so-called shepherd's hut, so we hope that the problem will be solved".
He explained that there was a similar situation in Kolašin and that it was solved precisely by the installation of the "shepherd house". The hunting season is over, and a three-year hunting ban is in force in Bršno, so it is not allowed to hunt for another season, so game has multiplied.
