The President of the Municipality of Šavnik, Mijomir Vujačić (DPS), only raised tensions by stating that the locals by the river gather politically.
Danilo Janković from the bloc of "Montenegro patriots and fighters for the right, honor and freedom of Montenegro" told "Vijesta".
He stated that with such statements, Vujačić further raised tensions among DPS voters, who are against the destruction of the river by the construction of mini hydropower plants.
"The President of the Municipality said that this is a political gathering. I have to deny it. I have been in the DPS since the first day of that party's existence and I will remain in it as long as I live, to fight for the right, honor and freedom of Montenegro, because I love it with my heart, not out of interest. Vujacic cannot speak on behalf of Montenegrin patriots. They are a committee for the preservation of the Bukovica river and we are ready to lay down our lives for it and for everything that is Montenegrin," Janković said.
He added that the committee and their fellow citizens are defending the river - "because they love Montenegro with their hearts, not out of interest":
"They touched the holy land, the holy water of Montenegro and attacked the honorable and proud Uskoks and Drobnjaks. My grandfathers and great-grandfathers gave their lives for this country. We have suffered a lot through past wars, fighting for Montenegrin freedom, honor, pride and everything that is primordially valuable, and today, when Montenegro has become free and started on the European path, we have to fight for the preservation of our rivers".
The people of Šavnica, who since May 14 have been guarding the place where the company "Hydra MNE" began preparatory work for the construction of the mini-hydroelectric plants "Bukovica 1" and "Bukovica 2", have previously said that they are not interested in politics, because they are united by the fight for salvation rivers.
The NGO Environmental Movement of Donja Bukovica (EPDB) announced that Vujacic violated the Municipal Statute:
"Because he did not inform them within 30 days about the Initiative for the preparation of the Protection Study for the area of the Bukovica River, which they submitted 75 days ago".
Ten days ago, that NGO and the guardians of Bukovica submitted documentation to the Government for a series of omissions made during the granting of a concession for the construction of the Bukovica HPP, which the Ministry of Economy is now checking.
The concession on the waters of Bukovica was awarded to the company Hydra MNE, which is owned by Jovan Gordijan and Milovan Maksimović, the brother of Milo Đukanović's uncle.
