Although the mayor of Tivat, Dr. Siniša Kusovac, said at a press conference yesterday that work on cleaning mud and sand deposits from the seabed of the Kalimanj city marina is currently not being carried out pending the receipt of a formal permit from the Agency for Nature Protection, the recordings made yesterday and today deny the mayor.
The floating dredger of the Tivat company "Iva-put", which was hired by the Municipality of Tivat back in April for this job worth 200.000 euros, in Kalimanje vacuums deposits of sludge contaminated with feces, oils and fats and takes this material unprocessed, through a floating pipeline, several hundred meters from the coast near Cape Pakovo and spills into the sea.
Due to the unbearable stench that was spreading this morning in this part of the Tivat Bay water area and dirt stains floating in the sea, they responded from the "Palma" hotel, whose beach is the closest to the position where the material dredged from the bottom of Kalimanja is pumped into the sea.
As HTP "Primorje hotels&restaurants" to which the hotel "Palma" belongs told "Vijesta", it is simply scandalous and unacceptable that such works are being carried out now, at the beginning of the peak summer season, when the city is full of tourists and the beaches are full of bathers.
They demanded that the disputed works in Kalimanje be stopped immediately.
