Numerous academicians of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, in addition to substantial "academic awards", also receive regular income from other budget units.
A simple calculation made by "Vijesti" shows that it is more profitable to be an academic than a Nobel Prize winner, and that only based on monthly allowances, and in the property records of members of the CANU Presidency, such as Secretary General Dragan Radonjić, Vice President Ljubiša Stanković and department secretaries Pavle Pejović and Niko Martinović, it can be seen that they regularly receive thousands of euros a year from the budget.
The current president Dragan K. Vukčević does not have a naturalized property record, nor does his predecessor Momir Đurović. CANU has a budget of 1,9 million euros this year, and last year almost 650 thousand euros were paid in monthly allowances. Research by "Vijesti" showed that despite the million-dollar budget, few academics have any recognition in the international scientific community.
Department of Natural Sciences
Former Minister of Education Slobodan Backović was elected as an extraordinary member of CANU in December 2003, and as a regular member in November 2011. According to reports on income and assets from 2004 and 2005, he received 400 euros per month as a member of CANU and the board of directors of UCG. In the report submitted in 2007, it is stated that, on the same basis, he received 500 euros, in 2008, 640 euros of monthly compensation.
During his first year as ambassador to Russia, as an extraordinary member of CANU and a member of the Internet Domain Council, Backović received 742 and 400 euros in monthly allowances, respectively. In 2010, according to a report on the website of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, he earned 740 euros per month from membership in CANU, and in the position of ambassador he earned 4.709 euros per month. The following year, he received 758 euros per month from CANU, and 4.712 euros per month for the position of ambassador.
There is no information on the ASK website about how much Backović earned while he was in the position of Minister of Education and Science.
The former rector of the University of Montenegro, Predrag Miranović, earned 2010 euros a month as a member of CANA in 742. As rector that year, he earned 1.304 euros per month. In 2011, as a member of CANU, he earned 758 euros per month, and as rector 1.093 euros.
In 2012 and 2013, Miranović received 760 euros in monthly compensation from CANU in addition to 1.276 euros in salary for the position of rector. In 2014, as stated in the KAS report, he received "on average" 291 euros in monthly compensation for membership in CANU and 1.324 euros for the position of rector and participation in classes. After the end of the rector's office, he earned 978 euros at the university, while he received an academic allowance from CANU in the amount of 477 euros, i.e. 132 euros for scientific projects in the Montenegrin academy.
In the report for 2016, it is written that Miranović earned 7.260 per year from membership in CANU - 480 per month for membership and 500 euros per month for variables for the first three months. That year, he earned 14.432 euros from salary and variable at the University.

The following year, according to data from the ASK website, CANU paid him a debt from previous years in the amount of 5.719 euros, and 5.760 euros for membership, or 480 per month. At UCG, he earned 12 euros in 14.432 months.
In the report submitted in 2018, it is stated that Miranović earned 18.118 per year as dean of PMF, while as a member of CANU he received 747 euros per month, and in January, July and December he also received a fee of 712 euros per month from the academy.
According to the report submitted in March of this year, Miranović earned 1.673 euros per month as dean. He earned 1.996 euros from his membership in the Council for Scientific Research. CANU paid him an honorarium for July, October and December in the total amount of 2.601 euros, along with 763 euros of monthly membership fees.
He was elected an extraordinary member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts in December 2008, and a full member in December 2018.
The winner of the Thirteenth of July Award, Vukić Pulević, stated in the only report submitted to the KAS in 2018 that as a regular member of the Natural Sciences Department of CANU, he received 748 euros per month in compensation. In the Council of the Natural History Museum, he earned 1.200 euros for the year, with a monthly pension of 1.020 euros. He has been a part-time member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2012, and a regular member since December 2018.
According to a report from 2012, the former ambassador of Montenegro to Great Britain, Ljubiša Stanković, received 950 euros per month in the name of CANU academic allowance. As an ambassador, he earned 4.285 euros per month. According to the following annual report on the assets, he received 7.750 euros per year as an academic allowance and 3.766 euros per month for serving as ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Iceland.
In the report he submitted in 2014, Stanković stated that he earned 3.500 euros annually from membership in CANA. As an ambassador, he earned 3.500 pounds per month, according to the ASK website. He received an approximate ambassador's salary until the end of his post in mid-2015.
In 2015, he earned 8.554 euros from membership in CANU, that is, 712 euros per month, and in December he received an award of 2.862 euros from CANU. In the same month, he received a prize of 2.000 euros from the Ministry of Science. As a professor at UCG, he earned 3.404 euros from September to December of that year.
In the report submitted in March 2017, Stanković stated that he received 869 euros per month from CANU, or 10.437 euros for that year. According to the report, he received EUR 2012 from CANU for the arrears of income from 8.573. As a professor, he earned 10.970 euros, that is, 914 euros per month and 5.398 euros in fees for the ICT project at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. In August 2017, he submitted the last report in which it is stated that for seven months he received from CANU as a special allowance 1.723 euros, i.e. a total of over 12 thousand, and as another income from CANU for one month another thousand euros. It also mentions three monthly salaries from UCG totaling almost 3.500 euros, for an ICT project at ETF 3.300, and as a "member, editor, researcher" for the same project 1.800 euros for one month, while the report ends with the basic salary for the first four months at UCG of a total of 4.300 euros. He has been a member of CANU since 1996, and vice-president since 2016.
Department of Social Sciences
Academician and former dean of the Faculty of Law, Dragan Radonjić, stated in the 2013 report that he earned 291 euros from membership in CANA, and as a professor and dean he earned slightly less than 1.200 euros. In Radonjić's report on income and assets for 2014, the fee for membership in CANU is not mentioned on the ASK website.
In the report for 2015, Radonjić stated that he earned 14.026 or 1.168 euros per month based on his membership and vice-presidential position in CANA. He received 5.220 euros from CANU to finance his scientific work that year. As a professor at the Faculty of Law, he earned 11.889 euros based on the variable. As a member of the Council for Citizen Control of Police Work, he earned 5.700 euros that year. In the report for 2016, Radonjić stated that he received a total of 16.931 euros in academic and function allowances, 4.290 for projects, as well as academic allowances for 2012 and 2013 in the amounts of 2.366 euros and 14.288 euros.
In Radonjić's report for the following year, as a member and general secretary of CANU, he earned 21.918, i.e. 1.826 per month plus 3.900 euros for projects. In 2017, he earned 15.438 euros at UCG, but also 2.215 euros as a member of the work group in Monteput. He was elected an extraordinary member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2003, and a regular member in 2008. He was vice president from December 2011 to June 2016. He has been the Secretary General of CANU since August 2016.
In the report for 2014, Veselin Vukotić stated that he earned 500 euros per month from membership in CANU, and he stated that he received the same amount as the president of the board of directors of Plantaž. In 2015, he received from CANU 8.899 euros, or 741 euros in monthly compensation, in 2016, 14.179, or 1.181 euros per month. As president of the board of directors of Plantaž, he earned 6.132 euros that year.
In the reports for 2017, Vukotić stated that based on his membership in CANA, he received 12.251 euros (1.020,96) per month, and 2018 euros (about 14.053 euros per month) in 1.041. In those two years, as president of the board of directors of Plantaž, he earned more than 15 euros. He has been a part-time member of CANU since November 2011, and was elected a regular member in 2018.
Others
Former member of the Parliament of Montenegro, Niko Martinović, has been a member of CANU since 2011. in the report for that year, Martinović stated that he received 760 euros of academic allowance. He was also the director of JU "Museums and Galleries" where he earned 1.070 euros per month. The following year, as written in the report, he received 500 euros per month from CANU and 1.106 euros in salary at the JU "Museums and Galleries". The report for 2013 and 2014 does not indicate the amount of the academic fee. In 2014, he was the winner of the Thirteenth of July Award and a fee of 11.000 euros.
In the report for the year 2015, Martinović stated that he received 5.700 (475 per month) for membership in CANU, 2.880 euros as a member of the Radio Broadcasting Center board and 11.307 annual net salary as acting director of JU "Museums and Galleries" Podgorica.
As an extraordinary member of CANU in 2017, he was paid a monthly fee of 1.332, i.e. slightly less than 16.000 euros for the year. He earned 8.235 euros from his pension that year, and 5.376 euros from the RDC board. In 2018, he received 16.344 euros from CANU, 5.352 euros in the RDC board and 8.400 euros in pension. He was elected an extraordinary member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts in November 2011, and a full member in December 2018. He has been the Secretary of the Humanities Department of CANU since August 2016.
Art historian and professor Aleksandar Čilikov has been an associate member of CANU since December 2015. In 2016 and 2017, he earned 5.760, or 480 euros per month in academic allowance and 485 euros in monthly pension. In the report he submitted for 2018, he stated that he earned 700 euros in monthly CANU benefits and a pension of 500 euros per month. In 2015, the former dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Goran Nikolić, earned 5.760 euros in academic fees and 21.920 euros as a dean. He received the same amount of academic compensation the following year, while as dean he earned over 25.000 euros for additional work. In 2017, he received 8.640 euros of academic allowance (720 per month), 15.840 euros as dean, 2.232 euros in the medical board of KCCG...
Income from CANU has been mentioned in the property records of fine arts professor Pavle Pejović since 2014, and he has been an extraordinary member since 2008 (regular since 2015).
In the report for 2014, Pejović states that in that year CANU earned 7.680 euros from fees. That year, he earned 1.024 and 453 euros a month at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje and the National Museum.
As a regular member and secretary of the OU in 2015, he received 8.831 euros from CANU, 8.640 euros from the Ministry of Culture as a prominent cultural creator, 20.380 euros as a professor at the Faculty of Arts, 5.520 euros as director of the National Museum of Montenegro, and 2.422 euros as a member of the Council for Scientific Research activity XNUMX euros.
In 2016, as a member and secretary of CANU, he received over 18.000 euros in compensation, in addition to his salary in museums (6.099 euros) and 11.109 as a professor at FLU.
In 2017, Pejović received EUR 19.485 as compensation in CAN, as well as EUR 3.696 and EUR 9.144 in royalties. In seven months at the FLU, he received a little less than 7.000 euros in addition to a salary of 751 euros in the Museums until July and 5.000 euros in benefits upon termination of office. In 2018, the secretary of CANU received 19.332 euros in academic fees and 2.592, or 5.076 euros in royalties. He also receives a monthly pension of 673 euros and a national pension of 765 euros per month as a prominent cultural creator.
Composer and winner of the Thirteenth of July Award Žarko Mirković has been a part-time member of CANU since 2011, and a regular member since December 2018. In 2012, he received 700 euros per month as an academic fee and 1.030 euros per month as the director of the Music Center of Montenegro.
In 2013, he reported 4.000 euros of income as a part-time member of CANU and 983 euros of monthly earnings at the Music Center. On the ASK website, a fee of 2014 euros in CANA is stated for 280... The following year, Mirković reported a monthly fee in CANA of 250 euros in addition to a salary of 998 per month in the Music Center and 750 euros from the state for the status of a distinguished artist. In 2016, Mirković reported EUR 3.000 per year from the CANU fee, EUR 9.000 for the status of a prominent artist, and EUR 12.600 per year from the Music Center.
In 2017, Mirković already reported compensation from CANU - 550 euros per month, 720 euros in artists' fees and a total of 18 euros in annual salary for the leading position in the Music Center. And in 2018, he reported the same income at the Center, with 750 per month from CANU and the Ministry of Culture.
Academician Zuvdija Hodžić, as a member of CANU, received 760 euros per month (2011), 500 euros (2012, 2013, 2014). He has been an extraordinary member since 2011, and a regular member since 2018.
Former Minister of Culture Pavle Goranović has been an extraordinary member of CANU since 2015. In the report submitted to ASK in 2016, he stated that he received 5.760 euros in academic fees, 16.953 euros in ministerial salary from January to November and one parliamentary salary of 1.520 euros in December. In 2017, as a member of CANU, he earned 8.880 euros, 5.489 as a prominent cultural creator with a total of 8.604 euros (January - May) and 8.050 euros as director of the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids (June - December).
Goranović reported earnings to ZUNS of over 15.000 euros for the past year, as a member of CANU he received over 9.000 euros. CANU received 3.220 euros for participating in the projects, and 6.120 euros from the Ministry of Culture as a prominent creator.
