Officials at the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant did not perform any activity on the valves that control the release of material into the Vezišnica River, which flows into the Ćehotina, the Electric Power Company of Montenegro announced.
This, they said, was determined by a detailed analysis, since representatives of EPCG and the management of the thermal power plant visited the field after receiving information about the environmental incident in Ćehotina.
The EPCG said that they expect precise information from the competent inspection about the reason for the clouding of the river and the death of the fish, as well as the processing of the case.
EPCG, they point out, will also file a criminal complaint against one or more NN persons on suspicion of having manipulated the aforementioned valve, which is located outside the circuit of the thermal power plant.
"It is also symptomatic that the incident is taking place during the tendering period for the ecological reconstruction of the thermal power plant, which will exclude any possibility of such and similar incidents. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, Elektroprivreda, in cooperation with the competent institutions and together with SRK "Lipljen" , with whom we have intensive cooperation, allocate funds for the remediation of this ecological incident, all with the aim of increasing and preserving the fish stock of the Pljeval rivers," the announcement concludes.
