The Society of Young Ecologists Nikšić (DMEN) organized a lecture on "Climate change in Montenegro", and the lecturer was Luka Mitrović, M.Sc., director of the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro. Mitrović, as stated in the press release, spoke about the components of the climate system and the interactions between them, variability, natural and anthropogenic causes of climate change, about the main hydrometeorological hazards in Montenegro, as well as about the projection of the future climate in the region of Southeast Europe and for Montenegro. "They also talked about the deficit of precipitation in the region recorded for September 2018, as well as the areas of high, increased and moderate fire risk in Montenegro. The reason for organizing the lectures is to improve knowledge, attitudes, better information and understanding of the public for the issues brought about by climate change in Montenegro", the press release of DMEN states.
During the lecture, as pointed out, many interesting graphs could be seen that showed various trends such as the growth of extreme maximum and minimum temperatures in Nikšić, the maximum temperature trend for Podgorica for August 2000 - 2017, the trend of the growth of the number of tropical nights and tropical days in Crna Burning...
The lecture, which was organized as part of the project "Strengthening capacity for better environmental policies", was attended by representatives of the local administration, non-governmental organizations from Nikšić and Podgorica, students from the Faculty of Philosophy, citizens... The project was financially supported through a small grant within the project " Together for a better climate in Montenegro" realized by the NGO Green Home with the financial support of the European Union and the Ministry of Public Administration.
