New applications for illegal exploitation in Lim and Ibar

New cases of illegal exploitation of gravel and sand from rivers were discovered and processed in the past two days, thanks to the daily presence on the ground of members of the Coordination Team for the suppression of illegal exploitation of river deposits, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced.

"After four misdemeanor charges were filed over the weekend for the attempted illegal exploitation of river sediments in the lower reaches of Morača and Grnčar, today and yesterday machinery was found in an attempted exploitation on the Lim in the area of ​​Andrijevica and Beran, as well as on the Ibar in the area of ​​Rožaj," they state. from the ministry.

Communal police officers and inspectors, in cooperation with the Coordination Team, filed two new misdemeanor charges and one criminal charge on that occasion.

"We remind you that the control of Montenegrin watercourses was intensified during July, after the Government, determined to solve this problem, adopted a new Action Plan for the suppression of illegal exploitation of river sediments from watercourses in 2019-2021 and extended the Decree on entrusting part of the work of the Administration for Inspection Affairs to the Capital Podgorica and the municipalities of Andrijevica, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Gusinje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Nikšić and Rožaje. Thus, a significant number of communal policemen and inspectors in these municipalities have been given the authority to carry out monitoring and control of watercourses in the area of ​​these municipalities at full capacity and even more efficiently." , the ministry said.

Working meetings of the Coordination Team in the field are held continuously, with representatives of the aforementioned local governments, but also of all competent institutions, in order to apply the best model of control and effectively detect and process all those who are found in riverbeds or the surrounding water and agricultural land.

"A strong crackdown on illegal exploitation will continue until this long-term problem is solved, and in that direction we believe in the continued support of the civil sector and citizens, especially sports fishing clubs," the ministry's announcement concludes.
