With the laying of wreaths on the memorial in Dubci in Baošići today, 77 years have been marked since the death of the fighters of the National Liberation War, Vas Kamilić, Đur Dabović, Jov Dabović, Kiril Cvjetković, Steve Cvjetković and Tom Vujičić.
Wreaths were laid this morning by representatives of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Local Community of Baošići and descendants of the victims' families.
Đuro Cvjetković, president of the Baošići Municipal Health Center, emphasized that this is a day that is celebrated in that place with pride. He reminded that young patriots were shot in this place by the Italian occupying authorities on August 5, 1942.
"Their sacrifice is proof that we have national dignity and patriotism in our genes. Every resident of Baošići likes to visit this place, because it exudes uniqueness, especially knowing why and to whom the monument was erected. No matter how many years pass, their memories do not fade and I hope they will never fade either, because their actions, and unfortunately short but dignified lives, have left the task for our place and our families and descendants to remember them forever, which will not be difficult", said Cvjetković.
The President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic, said that the local administration should reverently inherit the memory of the six residents of Baošići, who carried everything that bothered the occupier - undisputed courage and undoubted love for the homeland and the idea of freedom. "I know that among all of you, word has been passed down from generation to generation, until today, about the lives and deeds of the fallen fighters. It speaks of them, but also of those who cultivate this tradition. A city can be proud to have patriots among its residents, such as the heroes who made us here today, but also like all of you - who do not leave the names of ancestors to the past and oblivion. I believe that all of us together in the years ahead will continue to cherish the memory of those who defended their hearths and families, their Baošići and their Herceg Novi with freedom and dignity, said Katic.
The sailing team of the Jovo Dabović Sailing Club also attended the laying of the wreaths.
