After nine years of subtenant status, the users of the Herzegovinian Day Center for children with disabilities and developmental difficulties should receive their own space for permanent use by the end of the year.

Today, the President of Herceg Novi Municipality Stevan Katić, Vice-President Danijela Đurović, Secretary for Local Self-Government Vesna Samardžić and Director of the Day Center Dragica Kosić visited the location in Sutorina, where the Day Center for children with developmental disabilities is being built.

"The municipality of Herceg Novi made great efforts to realize this project, in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America and the US Navy, which is also the carrier of this project. This is a beautiful place, a natural oasis, and I think that people with special needs will be able to find their own corner here in a peaceful environment," Katic said during a tour of the field.

"After the construction phase of the facility, the landscaping will follow. The Construction Agency is designing a playground, the sports content of which will be available both to the users of the Day Center and to the children of Sutorina. In this way, we will enrich the sports facilities and enrich the space in this local community," said Samardžić.

She also said that after the construction and equipping of the Day Care Center, as well as the arrangement of the space and infrastructure, she will enter into the legal procedure of transforming the institution, so that people with disabilities and developmental difficulties over the age of 26 can be users of the center's services.

According to the Director of the Day Center, Dragica Kosić, the construction of the facility is of great importance for the users and their families, as well as the employees who have been engaged in the work of this institution since the beginning, and that they will move into the new premises by the end of the year.

The value of the contracted works is about 202 thousand US dollars, and the project is financed by the Command of US Forces Europe and the Office for Defense Cooperation at the US Embassy in Podgorica.
