Renovated memorial fountain in the village of Klenak

In the village of Klenak, the village of Kruška, the memorial fountain that the residents of the villages of Klenak and Somine built in 1961 was restored and a granite plaque with the names of 24 fallen fighters of the National Liberation War (NOR) from the aforementioned villages was installed on it.

"The Banjans made a great contribution to the struggle for the liberation of Montenegro with their participation in the battles at Grahovac and Vučje Dol, in the Balkan wars and the First and Second World Wars. "Banjani became famous throughout Montenegro and further afield through numerous and respectable brotherhoods from which many valid warriors and intellectuals came," said the president of the Association of NOR fighters and anti-fascist Nikšić, Slobodan Bato Mirjačić.

He reminded that in the Second World War, 168 fighters and 25 victims of fascist terror died from Banjan, and that three fighters from the mentioned area were declared national heroes.

"The Deputy Prime Minister, Milutin Simović, helped make this memorial shine like this, and old Đuro Zečević worked with his locals and donors for days, for which I thank them all. The hardworking people of Klen built this memorial themselves in 1961. "If there is luck, there should be more actions like this in the villages, because in this way the debt is returned to those who gave their lives for freedom", said Mirjačić and said that the victims must not be forgotten, and that the monuments must be preserved and restored.

The memorial fountain was also visited by the Deputy Prime Minister, Milutin Simović, and the President of the Nikšić Municipality, Veseln Grbović, with their associates.

There are about 250 monuments and memorials from the NOB on the territory of the Nikšić municipality, and the monument in the village of Petrovići has also been restored.
