Indictment against Professor Bojana Lakićević Đuranović

The Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Podgorica submitted to the Basic Court in Podgorica an indictment against Bojana Lakićević Đuranović, associate professor of the Faculty of Law, for the criminal offense of violating the moral rights of authors and interpreters.

"The defendant BL Đ. is accused of partially publishing a copy of someone else's author's work under her own name in the period from December 13 to 17, 2018. The defendant presented, as her own, a report with the title "The role and importance of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the creation, interpretation and application of EU law - examples from practice". In this way, without the permission of the injured party Đ.D., she made available to the public parts of his specialist work entitled "The role and importance of the Court of Justice in the creation, interpretation and application of EU law", in the percentage of 97,77%. The same report was published as the author's text of the defendant in the publication from the public meeting", according to the announcement of the ODT.

The acting prosecutor in this case is Vukas Radonjić, who is otherwise in charge of this type of criminal offense in the ODT.

Yesterday, the Senate of the University of Montenegro refused to state whether Lakićević Đuranović had plagiarized the specialist work of a student she mentored.

The Senate assessed the report of the Commission as incomplete, in which it was assessed that 97,77 percent of the work of the professor of the Faculty of Law published in the Belgrade magazine "Pravni život" was taken from the work of Drinčić.

The commission was given seven days to clearly emphasize in the conclusion of the report whether or not Lakićević-Đuranović plagiarized the work.

After that, the Commission announced that it did its job professionally and that the facts in this case were "unrelenting".

The conclusion of the Commission of the Faculty of Law, which was tasked by the UCG Senate to carry out the procedure to determine the plagiarism of Lakićević Đuranović, is that she plagiarized the work of student Đorđija Drinčić.

"In the text of associate professor Bojana Lakićević Đuranović entitled 'The role and importance of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the creation and application of EU law - examples from practice', published in the scientific journal 'Pravni život' of the Association of Lawyers of Serbia, in relation to the specialist work 'The role and the importance of the court in the interpretation and application of EU law' of the student Đorđij Drinčić, a part of someone else's author's work was taken without identifying the author in a percentage of 97,77 percent", concluded the Commission.

The complaint against Lakićević Đuranović was submitted by the CGO.
