410 young trees planted in Berane

By planting 410 young trees of various coniferous and deciduous species, in several locations in the city and its surroundings, Berane joined the action 28 years after the adoption of the Declaration on the Ecological State of Montenegro.

In the planting campaign called "Let the mountain be green!", which was organized by the General Secretariat of the Government of Montenegro and the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro, the Municipality of Berane, the Municipal Enterprise, the Forestry Administration - Regional Unit of Berane, and the students of the Elementary School "Radomir Mitrović" participated. and NVU "Severna Zemlja".

"In this way, we want to draw the attention of the residents of Beran and point out the importance of preserving the space in which we live and our beautiful nature. I hope that the fact that Montenegro is an ecological country will not remain only on paper and I believe that this action will have a positive effect on all people and that we will set an example to others on how to preserve and improve what we have", emphasized the secretary for communal housing affairs, traffic and environmental protection, Miloš Kastratović.

The Berane utility company contributed to the campaign, and director Savo Vučetić said that this is another action in a series in which this company participates.

The head of the department for environmental protection in the Municipality of Berane, Rita Barjaktarović, said that the reason for marking this day was given by nature itself.

"Through activities like this, in which we have good cooperation with schools and young people, we can show the citizens that only through a joint partnership of public administration, schools and the NGO sector can we do something more, to improve the state of the environment, beautify our city, which is what we did today ", said Barjaktarović.

Employees of the Forestry Administration of Montenegro deal with afforestation and greening of natural areas every day, so they were happy to join this action.

"We chose black pine for planting because it grows successfully at these altitudes and also spruce as a very important species that is ideal for afforestation of areas like this one in Jasikovac," said engineer Živko Vukanić from the Forestry Administration - PJ Berane.

150 black pine and spruce seedlings, 50 thuja seedlings, 30 ash seedlings, 20 maples and ten wild apples were planted in the streets of Svetog Sava, Sloboda i mira, as well as in the Jasikovac memorial park.

The Forestry Administration of Montenegro provided 150 saplings of black pine and spruce and ten saplings of ash and wild apple each.

DOO "Komunalno" Berane provided 20 maple and ash seedlings each, while NVU "Severna zemlja" provided 50 thuja seedlings.
