The Association of Disabled Youth Nikšić (UMHNK) started the implementation of the project "Employment to greater inclusion of PWDs in society" with the aim of greater employability of persons with disabilities (PWDs), but also to increase the general public's awareness of the importance of this issue.

"The project lasts 12 months and is financed by the Institute for Landfilling of Montenegro. Six people with disabilities are involved in the project - four who will work during the implementation of the activity and two people who will be employed in the Association for another nine months after the end of the project", said Nenad Mijušković, director of UMHNK.

As he explained, during the training period, which begins on October 1 and includes work on computers, administrative and technical tasks, accounting and project writing, six PWDs will receive compensation of 115 euros.

"After the training, four people who will remain working until the end of the project will receive a salary in the amount of 350 euros, what will be the salary for two people who will also be engaged after the end of the project", explained Mijušković and added that the value of the project is 50 thousands of euros.

The project includes, as he said, adequate equipment of workplaces where PWDs will be employed, as well as the procurement of a vehicle adapted to the needs of wheelchair users. In the preparatory phase of the project, candidates who will be participants and lecturers in the training were selected, and a training plan was drawn up for each individual area.

As explained by Aleksandra Radulović, counselor for professional rehabilitation at the Nikšić Labor Bureau, grants intended for PWDs have been implemented since 2014 and in the last eighth call, two projects from Nikšić with a total value of around 100.000 euros were passed.

"The very sustainability of the projects is such that after its completion PWDs will be included in terms of their further employment in the workplaces for which they have been trained. These are newly created jobs. The institute recognized these grants as one of the ways for PWDs to get involved, to gain new knowledge and skills, because we believe that only in this way they can acquire work habits and earn for themselves and ensure their existence", said Radulović.

According to her, there are 477 persons with disabilities at the Nikšić Labor Bureau, of which 294 are women.
