Huge plastic bags with dead chickens have been floating in Bojana for days, spreading an unbearable stench in the surroundings while the mother river slowly carries them to the sea, Vijesti has learned.

It is still not known who and what caused the unusual environmental incident, which was reported to the competent inspection services.

Local Saša Capunović from the Association of Property Owners on Ada Bojana said that in the past two days, about 50 bags containing 10 to 15 pieces of dead poultry were recorded.

"It is an ugly picture that we are sending from Ada Bojana. Potentially, it is also the source of the infection," Capunović said.

He added that the bags were coming a few hundred meters beyond the fork, but that he did not know whether from our side or the Albanian side.

"I think that the inspections would have to work in sync, so that the bags would be deposited in the designated places as soon as possible," said Capunović.

And the president of the NGO "Zeleni korak" Dželal Hodžić said that, although he is not familiar with the details, the inspections must urgently go to the field.
