The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja Igor Golubović and his colleagues visited the married couple Džehović - Zineta and Avda and Radojka Peruničič, beneficiaries of the program "Njega starih lica", to whom he presented appropriate gifts.
The office of the President of the Municipality announced that the visit was made on the occasion of October 1, the International Day of the Elderly.
The "Care for the Elderly" program, the hosts pointed out, is necessary and useful, but it would be even better if the visits and stays of geronto housewives with program beneficiaries were more frequent and longer.
One-time weekly visits for single households and twice for married couples, lasting two hours each, are, they believe, too little for all the obligations and tasks in which geronto housewives help them.
The president of the municipality, thanking for the hospitality, announced the continuation of the program in the future.
"The Municipality of Pljevlja and the responsible Secretariat for Social Activities are responsible towards all fellow citizens who are in a state of social or other need and who need help. We pay special attention to the geronto housewives project, which we finance from the Budget, but I know that we always need and can do more", said President Golubović, adding that the project will be continued in the next year in the same or larger scope.
"If we manage to secure financial resources, then next year we will increase the number of users and the interval of tours," said Golubović.
Since 2005, the Municipality of Pljevlja has been continuously implementing the program of support and assistance to elderly fellow citizens, "Care for the elderly", first in partnership with the Employment Office, and then independently.
12 elderly housewives are employed, and the Program currently uses 80 elderly citizens of Pljevlja. GM
