Ulcinj: Several hundred citizens at a new protest against the concreteization of the Pine Forest

Several hundred residents of Ulcinj gathered today for a new protest in Borova šuma in an attempt to draw attention to the importance and protection of that locality from eventual concretization.

The gathering in front of the famous "Sapore di Mare" swimming pool was preceded by a march of the locals from the roundabout at Vrhu Pazar to the Pine Forest.

The organizers of the protest recently submitted a request to the president of the local Assembly, Ilir Čapunij, at the first gathering, requesting that the councilors adopt a decision on the introduction of a moratorium on construction on the strip from the former "Galeb" hotel to the area behind the "Albatros" hotel, on both sides of the road.

The reason for the residents' dissatisfaction is the local government's intention to transfer eight thousand square meters of land between "Galeb" and "Albatross" to the Government in order to unblock the accounts.

In return, the Government would pay three million euros to the Municipality and guarantee two more with the banks, which will be foreseen in the budget for the next year.

The attractive plot of land covers the amount that the Government will pay to the Municipality since the market price per square meter in that area is more than 600 euros.

The giro account of the Municipality in the amount of around six million euros has been blocked for almost three months by the Budva company "Rekreaturs", for the demolished buildings in the K1 settlement 35 years ago.

The account was blocked after the Supreme Court in March of this year confirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal in favor of "Rekreaturs", which operates as part of the "Atlas Group" of fugitive businessman Duško Knežević.

The case is currently before the Constitutional Court, and the legal representative of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Podgorica lawyer Filip Jovović, previously told "Vijesta" that in case of a negative answer, the next address is Strasbourg.

In recent days, a survey was organized on social networks with the question of whether the Pine Forest should be preserved from concrete - 94 percent of 850 citizens circled "yes".
