Šehović announced ten new educational facilities in Podgorica

Ten new educational facilities are planned in the capital city, announced the Minister of Education Damir Šehović.

"Certainly, the capital, with the largest number of students, naturally has the greatest needs, which we always meet. Thus, among other things, a dozen new buildings are planned in the territory of Podgorica. In particular, the schools in Tološi, City Quarter, Zabjelo, Karabuško Polje and the Podgorica Gymnasium were all included in the capital budget. And then the kindergartens in Block 6, in Zlatica, Stari aerodrome, Tuško put and City quarter, and the upgrading of two kindergartens where the capacity of the existing facilities will increase by 100 percent, in Zabjelo and in Momišići," said Šehović at the opening of the reconstructed hall. "Oktoih" school in Zabjelo.

The hall was reconstructed in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and 53.000 euros were invested.

"We started from the fact that always, even when it comes to this topic, we can't do anything suddenly and immediately. And from that point of view, in the previous two and a half years, we went one project at a time, reconstructed one building by another, that is, over 200 buildings in total. I am happy that one of them was the hall of the 'Oktoih' school, and I am even more satisfied that this project is a new example of cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, with whom we are working to establish some new, healthy habits of our students. We marked sport as a priority at the beginning of this Government's mandate, and dozens of reconstructed halls speak in favor of the fact that our intention was anything but declarative".

Minister of Sports and Youth, Nikola Janović, said that "Oktoih" takes us back to the 15th century, and today, after so much time, it is our obligation to nurture and improve the education system even more.

"This is precisely why the Government of Montenegro invests and will continue to invest in sports infrastructure. Being a good student is no small thing. Being a good athlete is something to be proud of. And when a child manages to combine both, then the state is obliged to reward them. In this context, I also welcome the establishment of the Fund for Quality and Talents", said Janović.

The director of the school, Mirjana Radulović, thanked the ministries, highlighting the efforts of the school itself to provide optimal conditions for its students.

"Today we opened our 450 square meter gymnasium, which includes two changing rooms and toilets. Such conditions will greatly improve both regular physical education classes and extracurricular activities at the School. The relevant Ministries of Education and Sports took care of the good appearance of Sala, and once again it was shown that teamwork is the formula for success. Additionally, with the help of its own funds and donations, the School managed to change its face with investments of around 40.000 euros in the last period alone. And all I have to do is promise that we will continue to walk on that enthusiastic path," said Radulović.
