Locals of Pržna called on the Municipality of Budva and the city's Waterworks to solve the problem of the sewage network in that coastal town as soon as possible, where faeces often overflow from shafts and spill into the sea.
Environmental incidents, which happened several times even during the peak of last summer, practically led to the fact that the entire beach below the "Maestral" hotel had to be evacuated, and tourists were prohibited from swimming. In the past month, faeces erupted from manholes on the promenade several more times.
The representative of the local community, Vladimir Mitrović, said that tourists and the summer season should not be welcomed like this.
He warned that the locals are outraged, because every ten days the feces overflow, and the unbearable smell spreads through the settlement.
"The problem must be solved permanently, and we ask the Municipality to do that, because we live from tourism and those unpleasant scenes from last summer, when streams of feces flowed across the beach directly into the sea, must not be repeated," Mitrović said.
Recently, when feces spilled on the promenade again at the end of January, Vodovod said that an architectural bureau from Podgorica was engaged, which will do a project to reconstruct the complete water and sewerage network on the promenade.
Ten thousand euros have been set aside for the development of the project, while the Municipality has set aside one hundred thousand euros in the budget for this year for the realization of the project, for which the contractor will be selected through a tender.
