The Budva Committee of the Civic Movement URA called on the coalition partners to preserve the town chapel, to investigate the whole case, and to build a temple instead of the commercial and apartment building.
The city chapel, the demolition of which is requested by the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, and which is approved by the current Budva government, was built in accordance with the Detailed Urban Plan on the land of the church of Sveta Petka.
In 1992, the decision to expropriate the land of the Metropolis was made by the former municipal department for urban planning, construction, communal housing and cadastre, and the Association of Independent Businessmen of Budva approved the construction of a chapel on the bypass.
As stated in that decision, the construction of the chapel is carried out on the basis of investment and technical documentation prepared by the Titograd Republic Institute for Urban Planning and Design, and the Association of Businessmen then submitted all the necessary documentation, from the extract from the DUP "Podkošljun", the location decision, to decisions on confiscation of land made by the local administration on November 22, 1992.

The demolition of the chapel was announced after a new one was built about a hundred meters above the current location in the cemetery, because a temple dedicated to the Holy Apostle Mark should be built in its place, and an HDL supermarket next to the temple.
Architect Slobodan Bobo Mitrović, designer of the city chapel, recently sent a harsh letter to the managers of the Municipality, considering that such actions give priority to private commercial business in relation to the dignity and piety of the deceased of Budva.
The Metropolitanate leased the church land to HDL for a two-decade lease, and plans to use the money to build a temple. The retail chain has already fenced off the lot, but has not yet started work.
Member of the URA Municipal Board Blažo Radjenović told "Vijesti" that the party is against the demolition of the current chapel, as one of the elementary and primary needs of the city and its citizens.
"Our obligation, as responsible enforcers of the expressed will of the majority of citizens in the last elections, is to stop all bad projects, to demolish illegal buildings, and to demolish the few that are good (or at least one of the few good ones like the Budva chapel, the functionality of which was sufficiently said by its designer Mitrović ) to preserve and improve. The Budva chapel must not get into a situation where it is compensated for a residential-business complex or anyone's private interest and bribery, because its purpose, through the appreciation of our dead and the families who remain, has no price or alternative. This is especially so in light of the fact that earlier, starting in 1986, the municipal authorities seized land from the possession of the Church of St. Friday for compensation for the purpose of building a chapel in Budva and that all three decisions on exclusion were contested in court proceedings. Nevertheless, the chapel was nevertheless built, and under what conditions remained unknown to the public. That is why we insist that the entire procedure of exemption, construction, but also the legal basis of registering the land on which the city chapel is located to the Church of Saint Petka, be examined," said Radjenović.

According to him, at the time of the issuance of the decision by the municipal Department for Urban Planning, Communal-Housing Affairs and Cadastre (No. 06-061-u-107/305 of 12 March 3), the plot of land on which the chapel is located had no encumbrances, nor was there any any property-legal disturbances.
"And even in the ownership of the church, it belongs to the citizens of Budva, who gave up their property for the sake of the general interest, and in this case the chapel. The municipal board of the URA is not, nor will it be, against the construction of any sacred building, not even the temple of St. Mark, but between the chapel and the construction of the HDL facility, the interests of the faithful could and still can prevail, and one of them is the right to a dignified send-off for the deceased. We call on all coalition partners to take a stand and preserve the chapel, because in addition to the absurdity of demolishing the existing one and building a new one on in another location, we remind you of the question of the financial justification of demolishing the existing and building a new chapel and the satisfaction of private interest - the construction of another business-residential complex to the detriment of the public interest. and the current chapel, could build the temple of St. Mark in perfect harmony," Rađenović pointed out.
Tsarević: We are demolishing the chapel as soon as we build a new one
Mayor Marko Bato Carevic said that the chapel will be demolished and stated that a new one will be built first.
He explained this by the fact that more than a decade ago, the DPS government concluded a contract with the Metropolis to relocate the chapel the moment the church expressed its desire to build a temple.
"We are working hard to first build a new chapel, and only then demolish this one. We also solved the problem with our fellow citizen, the designer of the chapel, architect Sobodan Bobo Mitrović, with whom we reached an agreement, realistic, humane, that he, as a designer, should be involved in the construction new chapel, which will be the same as this one and that it will be to the satisfaction of both parties", said Carevic.
Amfilohije: I expect the most help from Grbljan
Metropolitan Amfilohije told "Vijesti" that he refused the support of the Municipality of Budva to relocate the chapel, because a temple will be built on that site.
"Just as the Podlastva monastery was restored, so is the ancient church of the Holy Apostle Mark, which is one of the oldest churches in Budva. At the same time, we need someone to help us, and I expect the most from the people of Grbljan", answered the metropolitan when asked why the church decided to lease the land for the construction of a supermarket.
