In the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), six complex operations on the spinal column were performed.
The KCCG said that the patients were operated on by an eminent expert from Turkey, Chagatay Ozturk, a specialist in spinal surgery and orthopedic trauma from the LIV hospital in Istanbul, and orthopedic surgeons from the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (KOT) of the KCCG, Aleksandar Jušković and Marko Borovinić.
KCCG director Jevto Eraković said that it is a question of complex operations for changes in the spinal vertebrae caused by malignant disease and infections, which will be solved with modern operative techniques.
He said that Montenegrin orthopedics, that is, orthopedics of KCCG shows a strong, positive trend of success in achieving results.
Eraković said that in KCCG they rely above all on their own strengths, but that they are honored to be able to host the best and largest European and world operators in the field of orthopedics in certain situations.
"Which will help us to achieve the results that were our goal, which is to treat the most complex patients in the field of orthopedics here in Montenegro," said Eraković.

He said that Chagatay had been in KCCG before, that they were satisfied with the results they were achieving together and with the education being conducted.
Eraković also pointed out that patients who were operated on in KCCG could not be operated on in any regional center.
He also reminded that the Congress of Montenegrin orthopedists was recently held where eminent European experts were present, including Chagatay.
Eraković said that Chagatay, together with our team of KCCG orthopedists, not only performs operative procedures, but also examines a large number of orthopedic patients who are selected for future possible surgeries.
Chagatay emphasized that the operations are very complex and could not be carried out in the region.
"These are complex operations on the spine in patients who suffer severe pain and patients who have tumors. I am happy that I can share the knowledge with your doctors who will be able to continue the work independently," said Chagatay.
The President of the Board of Directors of KCCG, Nermin Abdić, emphasized that the cooperation with the Turkish expert will be continued.
Abdić said that the operations that were performed on Thursday and today could not have been performed anywhere in the region, in any health facility that even deals with spine pathology.
"We are talking about serious patients. These are primarily advanced malignant diseases with metastases on the spinal vertebrae, and these patients suffered great pain and had great discomfort as a result of the underlying disease," said Abdić.
He also repeated that with prof. Dr. Chagatay, it was agreed that the KOT orthopedists would spend a period of time in the LIVE clinic in Istanbul, where, as he said, they would complete their knowledge.
"If all the organizational and technical things are as they should be, and we have no doubt that they won't be, that during November we will already have the opportunity to present to you again at the press, in this same place, that it will be done for the first time in Montenegro scoliosis surgery, i.e. severe deformities of the spinal column," Abdić announced.
He said that he was satisfied that the first operation, so called. vertebroplasty on the spinal vertebra performed in Montenegro.
