In the administration building of the National Park "Biogradska gora", the establishment of the Visitor Center is underway, which will also house part of the gallery exhibition and the library of the Botanical Garden in Dulovine.
This was announced in the information submitted to the Government by the Public Enterprise for National Parks (JPNP), which took over the management of the Botanical Garden last year. This tourist and natural attraction has existed since 1981, and was donated to the state by botanist Danijel Vincek. JPNP previously estimated that the annual maintenance of Vincek's life project will cost them almost 70.000 euros the first and 48 euros each odd year.
As the JP NP informed the Government, adaptation of the facilities, worth around 30.000 euros, has already been carried out in the area of the botanical garden. A decision was also made on the amount and method of calculation and payment of fees for the use of national property, so the entrance to the garden will now be paid for at one euro. The information states that the value of the property, which Vincek donated to the state, is around 46.500 euros.
According to earlier information, during one season that garden is visited by 2.500 tourists, and most of them come to Kolašin precisely because of this natural asset, which has been protected by law since 1994. The garden is located a few kilometers from the city, has an area of 646 square meters, with approx. 400 species of plants, most of them endemic and about 80 percent medicinal. Indigenous species of flora are from the mountains of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, Komovo and Durmitor. Over the years, a database has been carefully created that monitors the morphology and phenophases of individual plants.
In addition to the garden, Vincek donated to the state a cottage with a yard and a meadow, as well as movable property and a library. The Government announced last year "that there is absolute justification for JP NP to be the manager of that protected area". The reason for this is "the preservation of the garden and the real need for the existence of a specialized botanical facility that would unite cultural, scientific and educational activities related to the natural values of Montenegro", stated in the Government's explanation.
