Major accidents and disasters are a burden for all countries, including Montenegro, Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić said at the conference "Reducing the risk of disasters and the importance of cross-border cooperation".
"Adequate preventive activities are the best way to prevent serious consequences. That is why conferences and projects like this are extremely important in the fight against natural and other disasters. They additionally make us stronger, more prepared and more resistant to all challenges," said Nuhodžić.
He added that as the minister in charge of protection and rescue, he is "encouraged and happy by the atmosphere between us and it is proof of friendly relations and professional cooperation, which would certainly be confirmed in a real situation".
As he said, the system for protection and rescue was in full readiness from the very beginning.
"The Directorate for Emergency Situations of the MUP, together with other entities of the system, continuously monitored the situation on the ground and reacted in a timely manner, reducing the consequences and damage of the extreme meteorological situation that caused extensive rainfall," he said.
The conference is organized as part of the project "Adversities do not know gramice", which refers to Montenegro and Albania.
Ivana Glišević Đurović, deputy chief negotiator and national IPA coordinator, said that Montenegro and many municipalities had a number of successful projects that led to significant results on the ground.
