The central celebration on the occasion of the Statehood Day and the Day of the Uprising of the Montenegrin People will be held in Bijelo Polje next year, it was agreed with the meeting of the delegation of SUBNOR and anti-fascists of Montenegro, led by President Zuvdija Hodžić, with the President of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, Peter Smolović.
President Smolović expressed his satisfaction that Bijelo Polje will host the celebration by which the Montenegrin people mark two great jubilees.
"In the coming period, a committee will be formed that will prepare a program dedicated to the uprising that amazed enslaved Europe, while reminding of two great jubilees, 79 years since the largest uprising in enslaved Europe against fascism and 142 years since the Berlin Congress, when Montenegro was recognized as an independent state Smolović said.
He recalled that in 2004, the Montenegrin national anthem was sung for the first time in Bijelo Polje, the day after the adoption of the law on state symbols and the Day of Statehood. Montenegro celebrates statehood day in memory of July 13, 1878, when it was recognized as an independent state at the Berlin Congress, and the same date in 1941, when the popular uprising against fascism began. That was the introduction to the People's Liberation Struggle, in which, with important political decisions, the restoration of the statehood of Montenegro began.
"In this beautiful city, the city of white works, July 13 will be celebrated as the Day of Statehood and the Day of the Uprising of the Montenegrin People. We, as organizers from SUBNOR and anti-fascists of Montenegro, are looking forward to it, especially after the conversation with President Smolović and the agreement that the Central celebration will be in Bijelo Polje", said the Secretary General of UBNOR and anti-fascists of Montenegro Dragan Mitrov Đurović.
