"A.Č. complained that the goshawk was hunting their chickens and that he was afraid that one of the locals would kill it. We advised him to tie up the bird at least three or four kilometers from his house and let it go free...", he states. are, among other things, in the application.

The next day, however, they saw a post on Facebook by J.A, also from Bar, who advertised that he was selling a large barn owl.

"The photo shows that the wings of this bird are tied with a red ribbon, as well as that it is in the same cardboard box and that it is most likely the same bird that was caught by A.Č," the CZIP report states.

J.A. wrote on one of the Facebook advertising groups that he was selling a "live-caught owl, price negotiable".

When one of the members of the group commented on why he was doing it, he wrote "why, I didn't steal it, but I bought it".

"And as a huge and real specimen, someone needs it for a zoo or similar. I didn't kill her, nor would I, and it's easiest for me to let her go. Maybe someone needs her, because she's attractive and very beautiful," he wrote on the Facebook social network.

CZIP has organized the "Night of Owls" several times in Montenegro, during which activists and citizens take part in the census of the largest European owl - the great owl.

"Bubo Night" was created in Slovenia 20 years ago, and in Montenegro it is organized with the Natura 2000 team through the project "Establishment of Natura 2000 areas in Montenegro".

The Natura 2000 network is a key instrument of the EU policy on nature and biodiversity, which strives for the long-term survival of the most valuable and endangered species and habitat types in Europe.
