Through the Declaration on Science, the ministers of the countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI) expressed their support for the International Institute for Sustainable Technologies in Southeast Europe (SEEIIST), pointing out the importance of science and large-scale international research infrastructures as a basic tool for connecting the countries of the region, the Ministry announced today science.
Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović participated in the ministerial conference on science and research in Trieste, at the invitation of the Italian Minister of Education and Research, Lorenzo Fioramonti.
The aim of the event, which was attended by six ministers and twelve heads of delegations of the CEI countries, was to strengthen the cooperation of member countries and identify options and solutions for important regional and European challenges.
The minister presented the SEEIIST project, the main part of which is hadronic cancer therapy.
Damjanović pointed out that this project provided a unique chance for the region to use scientific diplomacy for the first time to fight for the achievement of a goal that would represent a significant scientific and technological breakthrough for the entire region.
"The project would improve the cooperation of science, technology and economy and represent a platform for the training of scientists, engineers, and technicians based on the transfer of knowledge and technologies from European centers, such as CERN and others. In addition, it would stimulate the development of complementary technologies, such as the use of alternative energy sources, the development of advanced digital systems, etc.," the minister said.
In the capacity of CEI chairman next year, as announced by the Ministry, Montenegro will be dedicated to strengthening good neighborly relations, constructive exchange of opinions and ideas, as well as improving dialogue and project-oriented cooperation among CEI member countries.
