The Clinic for Eye Diseases of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) has started applying new operating procedures of the tear ducts using modern methods, which solves the problem of chronic tearing of the eye due to blockage of the tear ducts.
As announced by the KCCG, ophthalmologists Nemanja Golubović and Nikola Cvijović, led by Dr. Josip Knežević from the Clinical Hospital Center in Zagreb, spent the past three days performing operations on the tear ducts using a modern method (dacryocystorhinostomy, punctoplasty, canaliculodacryocystostomy).
Director of the Clinic for Eye Diseases, Danijela Đurović Raonic, said that these methods solve the problem of chronic tearing of the eye due to blocked tear ducts.
"Then anterior orbitotomies, as a consequence of the presence of a tumor with a biopsy of the soft tissues of the orbit, reconstruction of the conjunctival sac in patients with an acquired lack of the eyeball and the problem of double images in eye disease of the thyroid gland with the application of botulinum toxin and oculoplastic surgery, which have not yet been worked at the Clinic for Eye Diseases," explained Đurović Raonic.
According to her, by introducing these modern operating procedures, the Clinic for Eye Diseases is following world trends that are applied in reference ophthalmology centers.
"By introducing these procedures, our Clinic has provided benefits, first of all to our patients, because we have provided them with greater comfort by receiving health care services in their own country, as well as the health system, because we will save significant funds that have been allocated for treatment outside of Montenegro so far," she pointed out. is Đurović Raonic.
Patient Darinka Ravić from Cetinje, who had her tear ducts operated on using a new method, is very satisfied with the complete treatment, service and hygiene, which she says is at a high level.
"I was supposed to go to Belgrade for an operation, but since I am seriously ill with my spine, I could not travel, so I refused. I came to the consultation and they suggested that I be operated here at the Clinical Center, and that's how it was. I'm very satisfied and with the surgery and with the doctors and everything is really at a high level," Ravić said.
KCCG announced that in a year and a half, thanks to the acquisition of specific, sophisticated instruments, modern devices and the education of doctors, a huge step forward in surgical treatment in ophthalmology has been made in the Clinic for Eye Diseases.
"A number of new procedures have been introduced, so that the most complex microsurgical operations of the posterior segment of the eye are performed independently, which ranks KCCG among the most reference institutions in the world. Day cataract surgery is also carried out, which is certainly a unique example not only in the region, but also beyond. where patients do not wait more than ten days for cataract surgery," the announcement concludes.
