The employees of the Funeral Service work unit of the Municipal Company in Pljevlja temporarily stopped their strike yesterday and continued to work, after agreeing with the other employees of the company on the continuation of union activities.
At the meeting of workers held in front of the chapel at the Ravni city cemetery, it was agreed that the employees of Communal Services will go on strike within five days at the latest, if the management of the company does not meet their demands. The decision to go on strike was signed by 37 out of a total of 55 workers, the number of whom are employed in Communal Services.
Yesterday, Tijana Vemić was elected president of the strike committee, and Rajko Kotlaja, Vesna Šljukić, Vladimir Klačar, Radivoje Bujišić and Željko Popović were elected as members.
Vemić told "Vijesta" that the employees are asking to be paid two back wages by the New Year, and after that one regular and one back salary.
The workers demand that an executive director be elected in the company, given that the position has been vacant for a long time. Acting Director Tanja Vučetić recently resigned.
The president of the communal services union organization Vukadin Šljukić said that after the decision on the strike has been made, a 24-hour period will run as a warning strike to the management of the company.
"After that, the strike committee determines the minimum work process together with the employer. In five days at the latest, if our demands are not met, the workers will go on strike. After we explained to six of our colleagues that they did not follow the procedure for announcing a strike, they accepted our advice and joined us. "From today, everything is done in accordance with the Law on Strike," said Šljukić.
Yesterday, the management of the company announced the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the workers who refused to work, and did not announce the strike to the management in accordance with the Law.
