Reintegration project in Bijelo Polje: 12 prisoners will undergo computer training

In the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Bijelo Polje Prison, the project "Reintegration through IT literacy and psychological support" is being successfully implemented, said the head of the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Bijelo Polje Prison, Vesna Pavićević.

"Through the implementation of the project, the non-governmental organization Euromost equipped the premises in the prison in Bijelo Polje, which will later be used for further workshops and education in the prison, then they equipped the prison with six computers, two printers, tables and chairs, which are used in the workshop where he is currently training six prisoners," Pavićević said.

She emphasized that the project implemented by Euromost with the support of the Ministry of Justice is extremely important for the prison in Bijelo Polje, primarily because it is the first time that this type of education has been carried out and that the prisoners have the chance to become computer literate and receive a certificate, which is recognized, not not only in Montenegro but also outside the borders of Montenegro, which will represent a step forward for them in terms of employment itself.

One of the prisoners attending the training said that this project is very important for them, and that the training means a lot to all the participants.

"Several of the participants already have some experience in working with computers and therefore will receive additional training, while those with less experience will be helped to learn basic knowledge," said one of the prisoners.

President of Euromost, Almer Mekić, said that this is the first time in Montenegro that such a project has been implemented in a closed institution.

"For the implementation of the project, joint cooperation between employees and people working on the project is very important", said Mekić, reminding that a joint team was previously formed to work on the implementation of the project, which has visible results.

He emphasized that before the training, the prisoners underwent motivational talks and psychological interviews

"Obtaining this certificate will also strengthen them economically, where they will achieve faster reintegration into society and find work faster, and the result of all this will be a reduction in the rate of repatriation. The certificate that the training participants will receive will also give them the opportunity to look for a job, after of exit, not only in Montenegro, but in all the countries of the European Union, where this certificate is recognized", said Mekić, adding that the project provides assistance to convicts in returning to the social community.
