The Ministry of Education will strive to increase outgoing and incoming mobility for students and academic staff, said Director of the Directorate for Higher Education Mubera Kurpejović.
She told the MINA agency that internationalization is one of the most important goals in higher education.
"Every year, we have an increasing number of programs in which Montenegro participates, and an increasing number of scholarships awarded by foreign governments," said Kurpejović.
She said that participation in programs such as Erasmus plus, on the basis of which institutions conclude agreements with other institutions that use that program, is significant.
According to her, Montenegro has other multilateral programs that provide exchange for Montenegrin students, and one of the most famous is the Cepus program.
"Through the Cepus program, undergraduate students have the opportunity to stay in one of the signatory countries of this program from three to ten months, while master's and doctoral students can stay from one to three months," Kurperović said.
As she said, Cepus provides the most opportunities for foreign students to stay in Montenegro, because it does not represent a lot of absence.
"We provide a certain pocket money for both Montenegrin students and incoming students, and for those who come to us, we also provide accommodation and food," said Kurperović.
As she explained, the host country is obliged to provide all conditions for Cnogorje students based on the principle of reciprocity.
According to her, the number of programs in which Montenegro participates, as well as scholarships awarded by foreign governments, is increasing every year.
"The number of students using these programs is increasing year by year, and this year 100 Montenegrin students used the Cepus program," said Kurperović.
Kurperović said that in addition to the Cepus program, Erasmus plus is also interesting for students.
"It is the most attractive because of those monthly allowances for our students, it takes place through special mobility programs concluded by our institutions," said Kurperović.
She said that the application for filling out this program is not simple, but that every institution has an office for international cooperation where you can get more detailed information.
As she said, apart from these programs, there are scholarships from foreign governments, which are increasing every year.
For Montenegrin students, said Kurpejović, the most interesting scholarships are from China, Hungary, Russia, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.
"Through this program, they have the opportunity to complete a set of basic, master's or doctoral studies, depending on the competition itself, and this provides an opportunity for Montenegrin students, in addition to the opportunity to improve their knowledge and acquire some new skills, learn a language, meet a new culture", said Kurperović.
She told all students to follow the website of the Ministry, where they can see all the details related to the competitions.
"In order to further motivate students, every year the Ministry has a special competition for the co-financing of travel expenses in the amount of up to EUR 200, for all those who receive one of the scholarships", said Kurperović.
