The President of the Commission for Investigating Attacks on Journalists, Nikola Marković, strongly condemned the arrest of IN4S portal editor Gojko Raičević and Borba portal editor Dražen Živković.
Raičević, the editor of the IN4S portal, and Živković, the editor of the Borba portal, were detained last night. They were invited to an informative interview last night to gather information about the text that was published yesterday on the IN4S and Borba portals. The Police Administration announced that Živković and Raičević were deprived of their liberty due to the suspicion that they had committed criminal acts of causing panic and disorder.
"As the president of the Commission for Investigating Attacks on Journalists, I strongly condemn the arrests of the editors of two portals that took place yesterday. The Prosecutor's Office is introducing a dangerous practice of depriving journalists of their freedom and taking the right to be the regulator of media content. Whatever you think about someone's way of reporting is for everyone "I condemn the deprivation of liberty due to journalistic articles. This opens up the possibility that tomorrow anyone will be arrested for a publicly expressed position or opinion," Marković pointed out.
He added that the Commission, in accordance with its competences, will carefully examine the actions of the authorities in this case.
"I appeal that the arrested journalists be immediately released from custody," concluded Marković.
