Perović: Avoid conflict with the police - they are your brothers

The Rector of the Cetinje Seminary, Gojko Perović, asked the people who paint the walls of Podgorica with the tricolor to avoid conflict with the police - because the police are their brothers.

In last night's riots in Zlatica, several people were arrested, and three police officers and several citizens were injured. In several incident situations, the police threw tear gas, while the crowd threw fireworks and stones at them. The municipal police crossed the tricolor.

"I am asking the young people who paint the walls of Podgorica with the tricolor, and who have both the old and the present Montenegro in their hearts, to avoid conflicts with the police at all costs - because the policemen are their brothers. As we are talking about patriotic and imaginative youth, I assume that many of them participants in our liturgies. This is just an additional reason to avoid any violence - because our church liturgies carry the spirit of prayer and non-violence even when the liturgy for that day - ends. Let all that produces violence and conflicts stop, and what contributes to love, let it be stronger... The church does not call for painting the walls, but there is nothing against it either. I personally like every trace of Montenegrin history and every creativity of the youth. But only to the point that does not conflict with the police. This is my personal request, but also a reminder of the recent statement of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church," Perović told "Vijesti".
