Artificial snow to extend the season

In the territory of the municipality of Kolašin this year, multimillion-dollar investments in development projects are planned, according to the Public Works Administration (UJR), through which these projects will be implemented.

The capital budget has allocated almost four million euros, and additional funds, depending on the dynamics of project implementation, will also be available from credit arrangements.

The largest part of the investment relates to the valorization of the potential of Bjelasica.

"In order to make this location competitive with the largest centers in the region, UJR signed contracts for the design and construction of another six-seater cable car and ski slopes that will connect the centers Kolašin 1450 and Kolašin 1600, with a total value of 10,8 million euros. The cable car and ski slopes are currently in the stage of preparation of technical documentation, and the work will begin after the final approval of the project auditor", announced the UJR.

In the past months, they remind, work was also done on the erection of retaining walls and the modernization of the road between the two mountain centers, "which significantly increased the level of traffic safety". This work was carried out in two phases, and the total value was around 900.000 euros.

When it comes to traffic, UJR recently announced the public procurement procedure for the design and construction of a multi-storey garage, as well as for landscaping, with an estimated value of 10 million euros.

"The artificial snowmaking system of mountain centers is also recognized as a necessity, in order to extend the winter tourist season. Considering that this topic has been quite exploited in the public in recent days, we say that in the coming period, in cooperation with the company Ski Resorts of Montenegro, we will consider the best possible solutions, in order to start implementation as soon as possible", say the Management.

In addition to tourism, as they state, this year the Government will invest considerable funds in the improvement of local traffic and communal infrastructure in the territory of Kolašin. Thus, EUR 1,8 million has been earmarked for the reconstruction of the part of the railway with tunnels on the Kos - Trebešica section, and further work is planned on planning the construction of a waste water treatment plant and a sewage network," the Administration announced.

On the basis of the contract signed by the UJR and the Municipality of Kolašin a few days ago, 300 euros have been provided for construction, reconstruction and adaptation projects of local roads and city roads, for which the complete tender procedure of design and execution of works will be carried out by the local government. The garage will be handed over to the Ski Resorts of Montenegro

The Public Works Administration claims that the multi-storey parking lot in Bjelasica will serve the public interest only, not private business entities.

Like other projects, according to the Administration, this one is aimed "exclusively at developing the tourist offer of the state and creating new jobs". They say there is no legal or any other possibility for state projects to serve anyone's private purposes.

"As for the multi-storey garage for visitors to the Kolašin 1600 center, for which the public procurement procedure for the design and execution of works is underway, it will be handed over to the state enterprise Ski Resorts of Montenegro for use as the end user after construction is completed. The implementation of this project will solve the currently expressed issue of lack of parking space for visitors to the mountain center Kolašin 1600, bearing in mind that the open parking lot next to the restaurant "Troglava" is often not enough for the needs of a large number of skiers from all cities of Montenegro and the surrounding area", the Management stated.

The chosen designer and contractor is expected to adapt the new building to the location, both in terms of technical and construction solutions, and the integration of its architecture into the natural environment.
