In the Resource Center "1. June" preparations began for the upcoming trainings in Applied Behavior Analysis in working with children with autism (ABA), after which Montenegro will receive the first ABA technicians in the region, the Ministry of Education announced. It is stated that the future participants of the training, as a first step, passed the initial informative training. "Representatives of the Resource Center "1. June", one representative each from other resource centers, schools with integrated departments, psychologists, special education teachers and speech therapists from regular schools", says the announcement. The training, as stated, was conducted by Rea Vuksan, an expert with worldwide experience, the highest level and license for the application, training and supervision of ABA. The Ministry clarified that ABA is a mixture of psychological and educational techniques that are adapted to the needs of the child and influence behavior change. As mentioned, the goal of ABA is to increase and generalize communication, play and socialization skills, and eliminate disruptive behaviors. "ABA affects verbal communication - talking, understanding the needs and intentions of another person, improves social relationships, self-care, play, school success," the statement said. It is stated that the Resource Center "1. June" records more and more activities in the field of working with children with autism spectrum disorders, and the ABA approach is, as the Ministry said, very suitable for working with them. "This approach is not widely available in the region, so our staff will be among the first to have full and free education," the statement added.
