The destruction of cultural heritage continued in Sutomore, where vandals desecrated Tabija from the 19th century, the Ministry of Culture announced.
"Condemning the continued devastation of property that belongs to all citizens, together with the Municipality of Bar, we are undertaking conservation measures to remove damage and rehabilitate," the Ministry said.
The tricolor covered the green graffiti, on which there is a mark - '19. which may mean it was painted last year.
The act of vandalism in Sutomore was condemned by the Municipality of Bar, the Local Community of Spič-Sutomore and the NGO "Za novo i ljepše Sutomore".
They assessed that the destruction of the walls of the centuries-old fortification, which they called an uncivilized act, was consciously aimed at "provoking the citizens and institutions of the city of Bar and the state of Montenegro and destroying the cultural and historical heritage of which the city of Bar is proud."
"The fact that the renewed barbaric attitude of individuals towards Tabija fortress is undermining the efforts of researchers who, through the projects of the NGO "For a new and beautiful Sutomore", have been conducting extensive archaeological research aimed at the conservation and restoration of this cultural asset, its preservation and further valorization, is particularly worrying. to the satisfaction of all fellow citizens and numerous guests who want to get to know the history, culture and rich heritage of our municipality. Earlier in Sutomore, tricolors were painted in a similar way on other public areas, on waste disposal containers and on public toilets, and an attempt was thwarted graffiti on the Haj Nehaj fortress. The perpetrators of these crimes, in addition to violating the regulations, also show their attitude towards the symbol they emphasize by the very choice of location for the graffiti. To our disappointment, this primitive consciousness does not recognize cultural monuments," the statement said.

The communal services are, it is added, on the ground this morning, and the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties has been informed, whose experts, together with the workers of the Municipal Enterprise, will work on urgent measures to rehabilitate and remove the drawings. A criminal complaint against an unknown person was submitted to the competent authority for the criminal act of devastation of cultural property.
Recently, a tricolor was painted on the walls of Duklja.
