The Department for Economic Crime of the Police Administration has not answered the questions of "Vijesti" for two weeks about the fate of the documents that were seized from the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service almost three years ago due to the suspicion that the state was damaged in certain tenders, at the time when he was the head of the fire department. In mid-June 2017, inspectors for economic crime took over certain suspicious contracts and tender documentation for the procurement of equipment from the Protection Service during Pješčić's mandate.
The documents show that, as "Vijesti" wrote, the capital, i.e. the state, was damaged for a large amount during the tender for the procurement of equipment for the Protection and Rescue Service.
The police administration is silent on the questions of what was established on the basis of the documents exempted three years ago, and whether a report was submitted to the judicial authorities on the basis of that.
The exact amount of damage had to be determined by experts, and it is suspected that, among other things, it was caused during the purchase of a MAN fire engine worth 330.000 euros, which was found to not even have the original pump, but a much cheaper variant.
"The vehicle 'FAP', which overturned a few years ago in Kuči, was then overhauled, which cost as much as 120.000 euros. However, the specified parts were not installed on that truck, and after the work was completed, that vehicle returned to Podgorica with the label 'Mercedes'", our sources from the Police Directorate explained at the time.
The inspectors also tried to find two firemen's suits that were bought for five thousand euros during Pješčić's mandate.
However, the suits were not in the warehouses, nor was it known where they were, nor why they were paid so much.
Pješčić was appointed head of the Capital City Protection and Rescue Service in June 2010.
He was in that position until the middle of 2015, when he got the position of adviser to the then mayor Slavoljub Stijepović.
His tenure at the head of the Protection and Rescue Service was marked by several incidents. Over 15 firefighters sued him after he made the decision to install cameras in the premises of the fire complex at the Old Airport.
The Basic Court partially accepted the claim and ordered the Capital City to pay the firefighters 750 euros each, because they were filmed illegally in the facility of the Podgorica Protection Service for more than three years.
This is, as stated in the judgment, compensation for non-material damages, as a result of the mental pain suffered due to the violation of personal rights.
It was explained that the cameras were installed in the rest and recreation rooms, in the dressing room and in the Dispatch Center. It is said that the prosecutors heard almost identically claimed that video surveillance was placed where it should not have been.
"In the rooms where they perform personal hygiene, where they wash, bathe, often stay in intimate underwear, in the living room, where they eat, drink, rest". Pješčić's leadership of the Protection and Rescue Service was also marked by the purchase of an expensive range rover jeep in 2011 for almost 72.000 euros. Pješčić defended the decision to purchase an expensive car by saying that they only chose the most favorable bidder in the tender according to the specification of the type of vehicle the Service needed for "all off-road actions".
The mayor at the time, Slavoljub Stijepović, took over the "Range Rover" towards the end of Pješčić's term as head of the fire department, and the capital tried several times to sell it, but without success.
The mentioned vehicle is now used for the service of Mayor Vuković. Last year, Pješčić received over 16.000 euros in a first-instance verdict, due to the reduced wages paid during the period when he was in charge of the Protection and Rescue Service.
