Podgorica Deputy State Prosecutor Vukas Radonjić suspended the investigation against Velizar Marković, the brother of Montenegrin Prime Minister Duško Marković, due to threats to Vladimir Otašević, the journalist of the daily "Dan", Nikola Marković, editor-in-chief of "Dan", announced today.
Marković said this at a conference on investigative journalism organized by the Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro.
The prosecutor believes that there is no basis for the investigation, because it is based on illegal evidence, that is, the recording of the conversation between Velizar Marković and the journalist Otašević.
The Association of Professional Journalists of Crba Gora (DPNCG) is protesting this decision of the prosecutor, because it believes that this is a confirmation of the media community's concern for the safety of journalists.
After the unsolved attacks and murders, the DPNCG fears that prosecutors will turn their swords against journalists, as indicated by the decision of prosecutor Radonjić.
Velizar Marković, threatened to kill "Dana" journalists in September last year.
The brother of the first man of the Government of Montenegro cursed and threatened in a telephone conversation with the journalist of "Dana" who contacted him in order to try to establish contact with his brother Radoj Marković through him, whose statement was needed by "Dana".
