The state archive in Pljevlje is located on the ground floor of the building in which the premises of RTV Pljevlja were also located in the basement, which burned down in a fire in May 2018.
A large amount of water was used to extinguish the fire, which poured into the premises of the Archives in Pljevlja. Thanks to the resourcefulness and quick reaction of the employees, valuable archival material has been preserved.
"Cubes of water fell into our premises. There was half a meter of water in my office. We also managed to save that not a single material was damaged. About fifteen days ago, we just got electricity. And we worked under such conditions, and not a single party was deprived and could use archival material, which is kept in our depot", said the head of the Archives Department in Pljevlja Vukomir Brajović. Brajović: We will equip the reading room and open a new depot
The head of the Archive Department in Pljevlja, Vukomir Brajović, told "Vijesta" that after they get additional space, the conditions for carrying out archival activities will be significantly better.
He said that currently around 40 funds of archival material are located in a depot measuring 75 square meters.
"We are a large municipality, and these days new people are arriving. If they did not get space, they would practically have nowhere to store it. When we get the space, we plan to equip the depot in order to have space to store archival material in the coming years. We will also equip a reading room so that our users can view archive material on the spot," said Brajović.
