The Institute for Public Health of Montenegro today launched a mobile application for reporting symptoms and health status of persons under medical supervision, which is part of a wider integrated system for managing information related to the corona virus pandemic in Montenegro, the Institute announced.
The mobile application aims to provide a simple and safe possibility to report symptoms or current health conditions, through just a few clicks. Citizens access the application via the link they receive in an SMS message.
"Thanks to a carefully designed user experience, citizens can communicate with the epidemiological service, send the most important data related to their health, thereby significantly facilitating the entire process of medical supervision," the IJZ state.
For now, the system is based on two pillars, namely the SOS line 1616 and the SMS-system of informing about one's own health condition for those who are under surveillance or quarantine. "In addition to representing a unique solution through which all information about the coronavirus is combined into a single database, it provides a number of advantages to citizens," added the IJZ.
If someone has symptoms or suspects exposure, they can call SOS line 1616, instead of looking for local phone numbers of health centers and selected doctors.
"Operators follow a precise triage procedure and the information system assigns a risk assessment. Everyone who exceeds a certain limit in that assessment will be invited by the IJZ epidemiologist and interviewed in detail. Based on their assessment, people can be placed in quarantine or self-isolation," the Institute points out.
Now, they add, citizens no longer have to write emails or try to get their local epidemiological surveillance.
"Everybody who is under surveillance receives a special SMS message every day through which they activate a questionnaire in which, in less than 10 seconds, they provide precise details about the elements of their own health condition. Everything flows into the database and every report of a change in symptoms results in alerts for local epidemiologists who, based on of that information, take the necessary measures and implement epidemiological procedures, if necessary," said the Institute.
For those who do not own a smartphone and cannot use this channel, they can call 1616 and the operators will fill out the questionnaire on their behalf.
The application was launched with the help of the companies Fleka and Crnogorski Telekom, while the Call Center was helped by the companies Logate and M:tel, all with the help of epidemiologists from the Institute for Public Health.
