A military plane of the Republic of Turkey landed at the airport in Podgorica, with a donation from the president of that country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
As previously announced, it is about 50.000 medical masks, 1.000 protective suits and 1.000 tests.
"Turkey previously donated 1.000 tests, aid in the transportation of the same amount from China and provided the transportation of Montenegrin citizens from that friendly country," the president's office announced earlier.
As stated, the military plane will also deliver aid to other countries of the Western Balkans, and the ambassador of Turkey Songul Ozan, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Cabinet of the President of Montenegro will be at the reception.
"The medical equipment consists of 50.000 masks, 1000 protective suits and 1000 tests. This, as well as previous donations, are available to the Ministry of Health and the health system of Montenegro. In this time of the biggest pandemic that has swept the world and caused the biggest crisis since World War II , is an expression of the solidarity of the people of Turkey and recognized in the great friendship with Montenegro', said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Slobodan Filipović.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense, he thanked the ambassador of Turkey, the people of that country, as well as President Erdogan, "our allies and friends".
"Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Turkey and Montenegro, as friendly and allied countries, have shared solidarity. I hope that this equipment will be our contribution to the serious fight that the country of Montenegro is leading," Ambassador Ozan said. According to the ministry, she thanked everyone who contributed, "and especially President Milo Đukanović, who recently spoke with President Erdogan, as well as Prime Minister Duško Marković".
"The ambassador reminded that Turkish Airlines brought many Montenegrin citizens, as well as that this was preceded by another donation from Turkey in the form of tests for COVID19, which is another example of excellent cooperation between the two countries," the statement concluded.
