Nikšić and Šavnik firefighters have their hands full

From the weekend until today, the Nikšić firefighters had over 50 interventions, and they were mostly about fires in the open air.

"It was burning in Bogetići, Brestice, Jasenovo Polje, Grahovo, Župa, Trepče and Šipacno. "During March, we had about 80 interventions, mostly open fires in suburban settlements and in rural areas," Veselin Gardašević, commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, told "Vijesta".

In the previous days, a building on the Durutović farm in Jasen Polje was threatened, as well as houses in the village of Zagora, in Grahovo.

"We saved the facility on the Durutović farm at the last minute. In Zagori, we extinguished the fire until midnight. At the moment, the fire is under control in that area, and we have left backpacks for the locals," Gardašević said.

According to him, since the beginning of the year, they had 350 interventions, most of which related to outdoor fires.

"Over 70 fires were in residential and auxiliary buildings, about 20 interventions related to traffic accidents, while the rest of the interventions related to outdoor fires. I appeal once again to the citizens not to light fires in the open air," Gardašević said.

And in the municipality of Šavnica, according to the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Mirčeta Jelić, all fires are under control, and three fires are currently active - in the villages of Miloševići and Kruševice and in the area of ​​Studena.

"As for November, at this moment the fire is under control. It is about an area that borders Dragišnica and is inaccessible for vehicles, and where there is still snow. "Fires are active in Miloševići and Kruševica, while we managed to bring dozens of other fires under control," Jelić told "Vijesta".

As he said, they managed to save a dozen houses and auxiliary buildings, as well as the property of the locals, while the fire engulfed the same number of uninhabited or abandoned buildings which, despite minor damage, were saved by the intervention of firefighters.

"Malten was burning in all parts of the municipality. All fires were caused solely as a result of the human factor, burning unmown meadows. I would ask the locals to avoid lighting fires in the open air so as not to cause major damage," said Jelić.
