Firefighters from Šavnik managed to localize a large-scale fire last night around midnight in the area of the village of Kosorići, between Šavnik and Boan. According to the commander of the Protection and Rescue Service in Šavnica, Mirčeta Jelić, this is the fourth fire since February of this year, which has occurred in the same area, and the cause, as he suspects, is the human factor, as in all the others.
"The village is almost uninhabited. There are about 15 houses, which are almost empty even in summer. Only two guys live there, but their house is isolated, separated from this part of the village, so neither theirs nor the property they maintain was in danger. But that's why there were houses that were uninhabited and the fire spread towards them due to the strong wind," said Jelić to "Vijesta".
The fire was reported to them yesterday around 13,30:XNUMX p.m. and six firefighters, as many as the Protection Service of Šavnica, took part in extinguishing it. In addition to Jelic, there are Danilo Janković, Radoica Ćirović, Veselin Karadžić, Ranko Drinčić and Radenko Zarubica. They were helped by Milorad Milašinović, an employee of the Municipal Enterprise, and local resident Živko Srdanović.
"The meadows in the village are neglected, the entire area is overgrown with weeds, and the terrain is inaccessible and cannot be reached by a fire engine, so we used knapsacks that we filled on the river and then went on foot and extinguished the burned area for hundreds of meters . "We haven't had a worse day, but the important thing is that we managed to defend the village," said Jelić.
He pointed out that they were offered help by state and local services.
"We estimated that there is really no need to ask them for help, when we just put out the fire, someone lights it up again. We managed to fight the fire by ourselves this time. We extinguished the fire until midnight, and then monitored the fire all evening. "After the fire, the village resembles an island surrounded by garbage," Jelić points out.
Currently, he said, three fires are active, but all of them are under control. Two fires are not far from the village of Kosorići, one is near the village of Zukva and the other between Dobri selo and Boan, while the third fire has been active for a long time. It is about the area of Studene, which borders Dragišnica.
"Just since the beginning of April, we managed to bring dozens of fires under control. On the 7th and 8th alone, we had 14 active fires each, in the same number of locations. Lights were burning in all parts of the municipality. We put them out, they come again and light them. We managed to save a dozen houses and auxiliary buildings, as well as the property of the locals, while the fire engulfed the same number of uninhabited or abandoned buildings, which were saved with minor damage."
All the fires, Jelić points out, were caused solely as a result of the human factor, burning unmown meadows.
"I would ask the locals to avoid lighting fires in the open so as not to cause major damage. "I appeal to them that if they want to burn the meadow, they should call us beforehand, so that they do it with our control, so that the fire does not get out of control," said Jelić.
In some places, wooden transmission lines and the low-voltage network were threatened, as a result of which there were long-term interruptions in the electricity supply.
