Ljiljana Jokić from the Civic Movement URA said that "the state institutions continue with their machinations around Sinjajevina, so we could read this morning on the website of the Ministry of Defense that they have not stopped the afforestation of Sinjajevina, and if that's what it says in their response to the letter from the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds".
She cites a letter from the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism referred to by the CZIP, which, as Jokić claims, among other things, states the following:
Namely, according to the provisions of the Law on Nature Protection ("Official Gazette of Montenegro", No. 54/16), all activities, actions and activities in nature are planned in such a way as to avoid or reduce to the smallest possible extent endangerment and damage to nature. In this regard, and with the aim of protecting this important ecosystem, we turned to the Ministry of Defense and received an affirmative answer that they would suspend further afforestation activities, and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism offered help to contribute to the protection of the existing ecosystem through joint future activities, primarily based on expert findings. of pastures and meadows on Sinjajevina", says Jokić.
"The Ministry of Defense states in its statement that it has suspended further afforestation of that mountain for the time being, due to the weather conditions during the winter months that prevail in Sinjajevina. And we invite them to answer us on the basis of which analysis and research they plan to continue the afforestation of one of the largest pastures in Europe," said Jokić.

She also calls on MORT to release written evidence of communication with the Ministry of Defense stating the cessation of reforestation.
"Although the Ministry of Defense recognizes Sinjajevina as a great area for a military shooting range, we at URA believe that the potential that Sinjajevina has should be used in a way to preserve the environment and to use the potential that Sinjajevina has for tourism and agricultural purposes", concluded Jokić.
