The Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro invites all nature lovers to visit all national parks for free on the occasion of the upcoming national holiday of Independence Day - May 21 and important ecological dates of International Biodiversity Day - May 22 and European Parks Day - May 24.
"Taking into account the pandemic, I would like to emphasize that the focus of interest of institutions and organizations dealing with nature protection is precisely the relationship between nature and health, and that despite the situation behind us, the employees carried out their regular activities. Protected areas, in addition to having a role preservation and protection of our valuable natural resources, provide numerous ecosystem services and have an important mission of connecting people with nature, which undoubtedly affects people's health and well-being,' said the director of JPNPCG Elvir Klica.
The press release points out that the employees of JPNPCG remind that the national parks of Montenegro provide "undoubtedly the most beautiful conditions for vacation in a healthy environment and protected nature."
"Visitors have at their disposal hiking, educational and cycling trails, a tour of mountain lakes, sport fishing on the Black, Biograd and Skadar lakes, bird watching in Skadar Lake National Park, children's playgrounds in Durmitor National Park, Lovćen National Park and Biogradska Gora National Park, a path for barefoot walking in Lovćen National Park, a forest for reading in Lovćen National Park and Durmitor National Park, and more."
The National Parks state that all visitors to the national parks of Montenegro are obliged to comply with all temporary measures and recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
"We remind you that the General Assembly of the United Nations declared May 22 as the International Day for the Protection of Biodiversity in order to raise the awareness of citizens and increase the understanding of the importance of its preservation and sustainable use. The European Day of Parks was declared by the Federation of National Parks of Europe (EUROPARC) with the aim of drawing public attention to the importance of green areas. This date was chosen to commemorate the declaration of the first European national parks, namely nine national parks in Sweden, on May 24, 1909. JPNPCG is a member of the EUROPARC Federation," it concluded.
