The adoption of the new methodology will not speed up the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union (EU) if the expected and necessary reforms are not implemented in the full sense of the development of further democratic reforms of the rule of law, the European Movement (EP) estimated.

EP President Momčilo Radulović said that Montenegro needs reforms in the field of judiciary and prosecution.

"New people are needed at the head of the judiciary and the prosecution, because only in this way, with very significant measures, can further reforms in those areas be started," Radulović told the MINA agency.

This, as he stated, is what will start Montenegro in the process of European integration, but also in the strengthening of state institutions and the rule of law in the country.

Radulović believes that the adoption of the new EU methodology and activities in the field of negotiations did not go well.

"They are not well communicated neither with the domestic nor with the international public." "I think that the office of the chief negotiator and the chief negotiator himself had a lot of opportunities that he unfortunately did not use," said Radulović.

According to him, all this is worrying because the activities that have been undertaken are not sufficient and adequate.

"At this moment, we can be concerned about the further direction and intensity of the European integration process," Radulović said.

Asked when the opening of the last chapter and the closing of the remaining chapters can be expected, Radulović replied that a number of chapters can be expected to be closed in a certain period.

"We hope that it will happen as soon as possible," said Radulović.

According to him, it is positive that the whole other series of structures within state institutions did their job well in previous years.

However, as he added, he is not sure that everything that needs to be answered has been institutionally answered, as well as that "certain credit" has not been made with the domestic and international public in order for these developments to occur within the expected time frame.

"Montenegro's standstill in the EU has been going on for quite a long time, but objectively it was not only on us", assessed Radulović.

Speaking about the current political situation in Montenegro, he said that as long as there are social structures that see the country in the Middle Ages, it is difficult to achieve a social and political dialogue that would bring Montenegro closer to the EU.

"On the scene, we have a whole series of retrograde forces that are pulling Montenegro towards something that is neither European values nor a civilized life according to the standards of the 21st century," said Radulović.

According to him, this is what worries, because it is seen every day on the streets and in structures that should unite people and not separate them.
